“What I would tell the young lady who gets crowned on Sunday night is no matter where this journey leads you, no matter how famous you get, remain on planet Earth and just remember what is really important in this world,” Giuliana told Favornaija.blogspot.com and reporters on a conference call on June 3.

“It’s not about being on television and about flashbulbs on a red carpet,” Giuliana adds. “It’s about giving back and always staying close to the people that are important in your life like your family and friends.”

Giuliana was born in Naples, Italy, but she’s more-than-qualified to host Miss USA — she’s seen by millions of viewers on American TV every single day. Plus, she grew up in Maryland and lives all over the country in both Los Angeles and Chicago.

“We’re both from Maryland so I’m sure…we’ll be checking out [Miss] Maryland,” Giuliana says about her and her pageant co-host, NBC and MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts. “But no…there’s really no one in particular. I like to wait until I get there.”
The 2014 pageant will feature a different format from years past — cameras will go into the hometowns of the contestants to share a bit of their roots through pre-filmed footage, during the three hour live telecast.

“It’s one thing to see them on stage in a swimsuit or an evening gown, but I don’t think you really capture the essence of a woman until you see her in her hometown, at home with her family around the dinner table,” Giuliana tells Favornaija.blogspot.com.
Giuliana and Thomas will host Miss USA live from the Baton Rouge River Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Sunday, June 8 (8/7c). Rumer WillisIan Ziering and Melissa Peterman will sit on the judges’ panel.
